Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunity for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a full-time position is available for a Construction Administrator on our Architecture team, which will focus on a variety of Architecture projects, including Aviation and Military.

This position is a hybrid position that will require 3 days per week in office or on the jobsite. This opportunity is available in the following locations: Bloomington, MN; Bismark, ND; Fargo, ND; Rapid City, SD; Sioux Falls, SD.

The Construction administrator will be responsible for serving as an on-site project representative; overseeing construction administration tasks and performing site observations during construction; verifying field measurements and as-built documentation; preparing, reviewing, and distributing weekly and monthly project reports and meeting minutes; reviewing and responding to field issues/conflicts, and contractor requests for information; preparing and processing contractor pay applications and contract change orders; coordinating subconsultant's work.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects with concurrent deadlines. Proven organization, problem solving, communication, and interactive skills required. Must also have ability to understand and write about technical issues and understand related technical terminology. Must be able to remain composed in a professional manner when presented with uncomfortable or difficult situations. Ability to think critically and make sound decisions is a plus.

This position may require climbing ladders and navigating uneven terrain, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites is an essential function of this position; a valid driver's license is required. May need to be able to pass a background check for clearance on projects.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Associate degree or higher in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 years of related experience with at least 2 years of jobsite observation experience.
  • Ability to read, understand and review project plans and specifications; cost estimates; project schedules; and contract terms.
  • Ability to Travel up to 50-75% to jobsites.

Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:

  • Experience overseeing (vertical) building construction projects
  • Experience with Aviation/Airport construction projects
  • Proficiency in the following computer programs: Bluebeam Revu, MS Office Suite, Newforma or other Construction Administration platforms
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, Confined Space Training, other Safety Training
  • Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) credential from Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)
